In this series, Tsuno Bags were a vessel used to explore hand resist techniques using botanical pigments. Each bag is dyed on their own with shibori and ice dye processes. In shibori, fabric is tightly tied off with twine, folded, and clamped to create unique patterns of undyed textile. With ice dyeing, our ground plants and petals react with water and only transfer in certain places. This creates a beautiful murky texture which differs on every bag.
Indigo: Radiant blue body with circular tie offs expanding from seam to seam. Shibori dye technique.
Black: Inky purple charcoal body with smoky waves throughout. Ice dye technique.
Gold: Brilliant yellow and pink body with wooshing texture. Ice dye technique.
Cream: Blue lavender and yellow speckle over an off-white body. Ice dye technique.
